FROM www.sparkplace.com website serving survivors of the Fourmile Cyn. Wildfire:
Dear Community,
As we have all watched in amazement and sadness in the last days, many of our community members have been displaced by the Four Mile Canyon Fire, and lost homes and possessions. Thankfully, there have still been no reported injuries, but the stress and devastation of the fire has had great impact on these families and individuals. In an effort to offer a community-to-community response, at least in part, Boulder Rockn’ Moms is setting up The Four Mile Community Store, offering gently used kids clothing, books, toys, and other children’s items to displaced families. We are requesting your donations to assist in this effort, and time is obviously of the essence for these families.
Please bring your clean, gently used items to Becoming Mother’s, located at 2525 Arapahoe, behind Grandrabbits’ toy store. If it is a big item, please call me first at 720-317-3397. We will also have a list for special requests, which will be posted at www.bigtent.com/groups/fmcf under forums. Please check here if you have a special item you think we could use. If you are a family who has been displaced by the fire and there is something in particular you need, please email me at firefly@ gmail.com with your request and I will get it out to the community.
The store will be located next to Boulder Ski Deals to the West, and should be set up within the next 24 hours. We will need volunteers to help sort donations and help ‘shoppers’ as they come in. If you are interested in volunteering, please go to www.volsched.com/event/304/ and sign up for a shift. We will be adding additional shifts over the next few days. If you sign up for a shift, we will be counting on you, so please come!!
The store will be open to all residents with proof of address within the evacuation area, and we will get an email out when the store is ready, as well as post on www.bigtent.com/groups/fmcf on the main page. Look for this sometime tomorrow!
Thanks for your support and assistance,

Storefront set up for Fourmile Fire victims to get donated items
By Alicia Wallace, Camera Staff Writer

Boulder Rock'n Moms, a 2,502-member online group for Boulder-area mothers, on Thursday established the 4 Mile Community Store -- a retail-like outlet offering gently used clothing, toys and other items to residents displaced by the Fourmile Fire.
The "store" is located in the Village Shopping Center, 2525 Arapahoe Ave., in the unit directly west of Boulder Ski Deals.
The impetus behind the 4 Mile Community Store was to provide a central location for the requests from Boulder Rock'n Moms' members to help others affected by the fire, said Lynne Fetterman, organizer of the group.
"This is a community thing," Fetterman said. "It needs to be a community recovery."
By Thursday morning, the discussions turned into reality. The 2,500-square-foot space donated through at least the end of the month by Gart Properties was filled with clothing racks provided by Just Between Friends' local site and a plethora of donations.
As she stood near the high-trafficked doorway, Fetterman motioned behind her to the dozen women sorting their gently used offerings.
"I don't even know any of these people," she said. "Well, until today."
The expectations are for the store to be open starting at 9 a.m. and into the afternoon. The goods will be available free of charge to people who are in the evacuation area of the Fourmile Fire, Fetterman said, adding that people need to bring some identifying information to obtain goods.
Gina Finney, a Boulder Rock'n Moms member, said she was enthusiastic about the effort. On Thursday, she dropped off 15 almost-new boys' pants.
Fetterman requests that the donations be "very gently used" and not stained or torn.
"These families have been through enough already," she said.
For more information and updates related to the donation center, visit: bigtent.com/groups/fmcf or www.volsched.com.

Storefront set up for Fourmile Fire victims to get donated items

Thanks for your support and assistance,
Lynne
