And especially now, in the wake of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike, the need has increased again. The foods we need are basic, like dry beans, rice, pasta, mashed potato flakes, cereals (cold and hot), canned meats, soups, canned veggies & fruits. Other things are also welcome, but those are the things we mainly stock. If you can help with any of this, please email me or call me at the church (985-643-8215) , and we can either arrange for you to drop off, or us to pick up. [NOTE: I'm picking up one donation on the east end of Slidell Sunday afternoon, 9/28. If anyone else has something available now, I can make a pick-up run around Slidell on that one day...east end of town early afternoon, and west end later afternoon or evening. If you can't do it Sunday, either I could pick up another time, or we have a box for donations available at the church, 2021 Gause Blvd, East - at the side door of the main building. In addition, we'd like to find places to put food collection bins, perhaps an independent grocery, a school food drive, a bank, etc. If anyone could give me leads to possible placements, that would be fantastic.
