*What do you mean by “Cooperative?”*
The co-op is owned by a nonprofit called “Unitarian Universalist Community
Cooperatives.” That nonprofit is run by a board, the majority of whom are
Lucy Stone housemates. Since being a member of Lucy Stone Co-op means also
being a member of it’s nonprofit owner, housemates also play a role in
supporting UUCC. Learn more about Lucy Stone and UUCC online:
http://uucommunitycoops.org/.
*Tell me about the house.*
The Lucy Stone Cooperative is home to 12 people. Many of us have jobs
outside the house, including roles such as teacher, minister, video game
developer, therapist, nanny and organizer. We share five meals a week
together and often spend time together inside and outside the house. Our
house is 5,000 sq. ft. on a corner lot. It’s a single-family with 11
bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a big kitchen and lots of common space. The yard is
big and has an incredible tree on the corner.
*What qualities are you looking for in a housemate?*
We housemates diverse in race, class, ages, and stages of life. We
encourage young adults, families, couples, seniors, empty-nesters, and
everyone in between to apply. Our values are based in Unitarian
Universalism, and we welcome anyone with an interest in integrating their
spirituality with their daily life, no matter what their faith background
or religious affiliation. We are looking for housemates that are committed
to honest communication, consensus-building, and building both an internal
community among housemates and an external community of neighbors,
activists, and people of faith.
*What are the resident responsibilities?*
-About 10 hrs/week of house-related chores and activities.
-Participate in (and facilitate as able):
-house meetings every other Monday
-annual membership meeting of UUCC (held during normal house meeting time).
-spring and fall house retreats
-annual anti-racism/anti-oppression workshop (usually during a house
retreat)
-spring and fall workdays
-Pay rent and other expenses on time
-Practice direct and open communication
-Respect the rules and agreements of the Cooperative (see LSC housemate
handbook)
*Where is this house?*

An 8 min walk (.3 miles) to Dudley Bus (& silver line) station
44 mins to Harvard sq. on the #1 bus.
25 mins to Park st. (on the Silver Line bus)
*Logistics:*
Rent: $455 per month, plus food and utilities.

they move in. The same amount will be returned when the housemate moves out.

identities; family statuses; sexualities; relationship statuses, including

*Our Mission Statement:*
