Not participating in 2011 tornado relief effort. TF
Let me share with you our flood relief plan of action and volunteer needs for the remainder of this week.
Serving Lunch from 11:30am-1:30pm and Dinner from 5:00pm-7:00pm ~ We need 5-7 volunteers to help serve the meals. The meals are being prepared and delivered by the American Red Cross. Our volunteers are serving the meals in our fellowship hall.
Water Bottle Distribution from 11:00am-1:00pm and from 5:00pm-7:00pm ~ The water bottle distribution is our primary contact for informing and reminding our neighbors about the meal option.
Wednesday Night ~ We would like to be able to blitz the neighborhoods with volunteers to distribute water bottles and do outreach and evangelism in the neighborhoods. This will start at 5:00pm and run until 8:00pm.
We are serving meals and distributing water on Saturday as well. However, we are being blessed by Truett-McConnell College with 20-25 college students to handle all of the relief work on Saturday! Praise the Lord!
Due to the overwhelming response of donations and where we are in the relief ministry process, we are no longer able to accept any donations of supplies or materials at this point. There may be the need down the road for more as the current supplies and materials are distributed, but for now Ewing Road and just about all of our donation organizations are full. If you have supplies or items you would like to donate, please contact the church office for information about where you take certain items.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the church office (770-941-2467 / erbcoffice@bellsouth.net).

We’re fine right now. So many of the disaster relief teams have moved into the area all we are doing is providing a feeding station and the Red Cross is providing for that. Everyone around here has received so many clothing donations we are asking people to hold on to them for several weeks and give them people time to get over the hump. Plenty of clothing has been given out already and more will be given out this week-end. After that, we may know more of what is needed. -> 6/2011 TF: Put on standby. Not doing tornado relief. Saturday – we need the following volunteers. We need people who can commit from 10:00am – 1:00pm; 1:00pm – 4:00pm; 4:00pm – 8:00pm. If you can commit to larger chunks of time that is great, but we just want to make sure we have enough volunteers for the whole day because we anticipate feeding more than 500 persons on Saturday and would like to distribute 2000 bottles of water.
1. Receiving Donated Goods (bottled water) –Please let us know when and how long you can be available. These volunteers will also need to help direct traffic in the parking lot as donations are dropped off. Some heavy lifting may be required. Start time is 10:00am and we will receive until 7:00pm. Water Bottle Preparation helps prepare the water bottles for the distribution teams to take out into the neighborhoods. Some heavy lifting may be required. Please let us know when and how long you can be available. Start time is 10:00am and we will distribute until 7:00pm. Coordinator is Jack Blankenship.
2. Kitchen Crew –We have cook volunteers to handle the major preparations, but we need volunteers to help prepare the drinks and sandwiches. We will be serving meals from 12:00 noon until 8:00pm. Please let us know when and how long you can be available. Start time is 11:00am and we will serve until 8:00pm. Coordinator is Jeff Daxon.
3. Greeting & Table Service –volunteers to help greet the community members when they arrive and assist them in getting their plates fixed. This is a great chance to minister one-on-one with persons. Please let us know when and how long you can be available. Start time is 11:00am and we will serve until 8:00pm. Coordinator is Jeff Daxon.
5. Water Bottle Distribution – multiple volunteers at a time to deliver water bottles into the neighborhoods and distribute flyers about the meal at the church. Please let us know when and how long you can be available. Start time 10:00am and we will distribute until 7:00pm. Coordinators are Jack Blankenship and Michael Stovall.
6. Church Cleanup and Setup for Sunday – we need volunteers to start at 1:00pm and help us get the worship center and education rooms ready for Sunday. The facilities have been used for multiple events this week as a result of the flood relief ministry we have been doing and we need to make sure we are ready for Sunday morning. Please meet in the sanctuary at 1:00pm to help with this project. Coordinator is Michael Stovall.
You will have an opportunity on Sunday to volunteer to help with Monday night’s community event. For Monday night’s event we will need ….
15 parking attendants
Volunteers to help on Monday morning to set up tables on the front lawn.
For those of you outside of Ewing Road Baptist Church who want to help us in ministering to our community, here are some ways you can continue to be involved. We are going to need help for weeks and months to come. So please let us know how we can contact you or your group as we move forward in the recovery of our community. In the meantime, you can help us by …
Donation of water bottles
Help distribute water bottles in the mornings and/or evenings beginning next week
Donate Care Kits for the flood victims that we can distribute throughout the community.
For those of you interested in helping with house clean outs we want to direct your attention to:
