Case Management will be a prime focus. Paradise Community Services will open a Local Disaster Recovery/Resource Center at the new VC Chamber of Commerce office starting Saturday, 11/10/07 =========================================================================== Paradise Community Services, Inc. • PO Box 2418 Valley Center, CA 92082 • 760-751-8692 • fax 760-751-2656 FROM THE WEBSITE: Paradise Community Services provides assistance to families and individuals in San Diego County. We work closely with churches, service groups, and with major assistance organizations throughout the county to take care of unmet needs and to connect clients with appropriate available resources. Much of our work is made possible through the assistance of the many volunteers who generously participate in making a difference in the lives of those in need. Paradise Community Services has joined with other volunteers, many from local churches and service organizations, to respond to the needs of our friends and neighbors who have suffered from the devastating wildfires. We are coordinating a program of long-term recovery assistance beginning with an assessment of local needs. Please contact us to volunteer your services or if you have questions about available resources. The journey to recovery is a long process that begins here. Paradise Community Services assists families and individuals who have suffered the devasting effects of a disaster by guiding them to resources and helping them to develop Long-Term Recovery plans. Recovering from a disaster begins with meeting intitial needs, but the long-term recovery process goes through many stages and usually takes two to three years for most people. Those who lost homes are often unable to return to their neighborhoods, and are faced with the challenge of having to establish new lives in new communities while continuing to deal with the day to day issues that affect all of us. Our Long-Term Recovery Program is a joint effort with many other charitable organizations and individual volunteers in San Diego County, and includes assistance locating, securing and maintaining affordable housing, settling the children into their new neighborhoods, finding job training resources and employment opportunities, and dealing with recovery-related health and life issues. Since October, 2003, we have provided disaster recovery assistance for over 1,000 men, women, and children, as they re-settle into the community while preserving their pre-disaster memories. Our background… Paradise Community Services grew out of the disaster of the 2003 Paradise fire in Southern California. The devastating fire destroyed over 200 homes, leaving many families without shelter and basic needs. In the aftermath of the fire, we learned that many of the local residents were unable to return to their homes because they had been established without meeting basic county permitting requirements. What started as an effort to provide temporary shelter for our displaced neighbors became a mission to respond to a social problem that was previously masked from the eyes of the community. Our efforts to care for the families displaced by the fire led us to discover a wide range of unmet needs in our own community, and to establish our mission to help our neighbors. ->

Paradise Community Services provides assistance to families and individuals in San Diego County.
Our background…
Paradise Community Services grew out of the disaster of the 2003 Paradise fire in Southern California.
