Delivered nearly 200 hygiene kits, and worked with a Red Cross nurse providing medicine and care for Sandy evacuees in Red Cross Manhasset shelter.
After the Locust Valley* shelter closed, the MMU moved with about 120 evacuees to this larger shelter on November 1, 2012, increasing the population to about 300. The Mobile Medical Unit became a ER-type clinic, providing not just medications, but a medical workspace for area doctors and nurses to work in, giving care to those in the shelter.
Nassau Community College - Red Cross Shelter
After the Manhasset shelter closed November 5, 2012, Heart to Heart supported the transfer of approximately 200 Sandy evacuees to a larger shelter at the Nassau Community College.
Robert Frost Middle School - Red Cross Shelter
Heart to Heart supported a smaller Red Cross shelter in Deer Park.
Among the supplies delivered to a grateful volunteer staff: Hygiene kits, complete glucose testing kits, feminine hygiene products and OTC medications
