Mission: The WMMRC is a coalition of Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) serving Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties and their 101 cities and towns.

Volunteers Please note that as part of the volunteer application process, you will be required to submit copies of licenses, trainings and certifications, and a signed Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) form. When you submit your CORI form you will need to include a government photo identification, for example, a driver's license, which will have to be verified. In addition, a Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) background check will be performed. When you either call, or are called by the MRC Unit leader regarding your volunteer application, you will be provided with more detail about the application process.

American Red Cross requesting Medical Reserve Corps assistance

Dear MRC Unit Leaders,

The American Red Cross has requested assistance. ARC is facing significant gaps in staffing for shelters in the gulf area, for current operations with the tornadoes as well as anticipated operations for flooding. The pool of local ARC volunteers has been tapped, but is insufficient. ARC is currently looking for licensed or certified health and mental health volunteers who may be willing, able and approved to deploy as a ARC volunteer to support general shelter operations. ARC health/mental training is a plus, but they are willing to take individuals without the training (and will provide just in time training). Note: This is not a Federal or State deployment of MRC volunteers. This is a voluntary activation to support a partner organization.

If you have volunteers that you would approve for deployment, please tell them to contact the local Red Cross chapter (www.redcross.org) to begin the activation process and to receive just-in-time training. Note that these MRC volunteers must meet the following Red Cross eligibility criteria. For Disaster Health Services the individual must:

a. Have an active and unrestricted license (i.e. RN, LPN, LVN, NP, EMT, MD, DO) AND b. Current CPR For Disaster Mental Health the individual must: a. Have an active and unrestricted independent license and masters degree as a clinical social worker, psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, psychiatric nurse, or psychiatrist OR b. Have an active and unrestricted state license/certification and masters degree as a school psychologist or school counselor OR c. Have an active and unrestricted state license and a bachelors degree (BSN) as a registered nurse and American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification in mental health nursing ARC has agreed to accommodate groups who wish to deploy together.
