notes: 5/13/2011: Georgia Legal Services Program We are monitoring opening of the DRCs and providing representatives on site where requested. We provide lawyers who can give on-site information and advice about problems obtaining benefits such as disaster unemployment, food stamps, and other FEMA benefits, as well as landlord-tenant problems and replacement of lost documents. On a longer term basis, we will continue to assist clients with benefits issues, housing issues, and consumer/home repair scams. We work with the State Bar of Georgia Younger Lawyers Division Hotline to coordinate referrals for problems concerning insurance claims and similar issues. In addition to on-site legal assistance at the DRCs, we have five offices that cover one or more of the counties under the federal disaster declaration. These offices are located in Dalton, Gainesville, Macon, Columbus, and downtown Atlanta (for certain counties just outside the core metro area). More information about our offices is available at www.glsp.org . We are preparing flyers about our services to be offered at the DRCs as well as key community locations.
