The Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC) is a non-profit, non-partisan networking NGO founded in 1987 by a group of NGO leaders who saw the need to better coordinate activities in Japanese society and facilitate communication with groups overseas.
JANIC Aims to:
* Foster closer relations among Japanese NGOs engaged in international cooperation.
* Strengthen capacity of NGOs and the promotion of social responsibility initiatives.
* Encourage networking among domestic, international NGOs and related organizations.
* Encourage dialogue between NGOs and other sectors of society.
* Deepen public understanding of NGO and generate support for NGO activities and international cooperation in Japan.
* Conduct research on NGOs and international cooperation.
JANIC's Vision
Our goal is to achieve a global society where people are liberated from hunger, poverty and violation of human rights, where people live in harmony with nature, where people are assured of equal and fair opportunities for participation in deciding directions for their society, and where people mutually respect diverse cultures and values, while living together.
JANIC's Mission
* To promote networking and collaborative activities among citizens' organizations(NGOs) engaged in international cooperation.
* To facilitate policy advocacy of global issues and better aid. * To strengthen the institutional capability of NGOs in carrying out their missions.
* To disseminate information and knowledge concerning people's living conditions in developing regions of the world and the impact of the public's way of life on these people.
* To enlighten the general public on the role of NGOs and encourage their participation in NGO activities in any form.

NGO Relief Fund for Japan Earthquake and Tsunam
Japanese NGOs are taking action for emergency assistance for the victims of the North-East Japan earthquake and tsunami that occurred on March 11, 2011.
JANIC, as a network organization of Japanese civil society groups, has established a pooled fund for donations related to the earthquake and tsunami. At the moment there are 24 NGOs among our membership that are assisting the disaster victims in various ways. JANIC is now accepting contributions to support the activities of these NGOs. All the donations we collect will be distributed equally among them.
We deeply appreciate your concern and support for the people affected by this disaster.
