The clinic is in Duchity, but the outbreak of cholera is in Tozia which is about 30 min. from Duchity.
There are 2 doctors in the area. Dr. Marx has gone to Tozia to treat patients and Dr. Michelet in presently in Les Cayes. There is one public health nurse and several aux. nurses. One employed by the clinic.
A new clinic on the other side of town is empty and is being considered for a CTC as it has a good amount of space for beds. Gigi was not aware of any sanitation or water available at the site. (Lpar note: I suggest whoever sets up CTC buys some toilets from Youthaiti)

Dear HEAS -
I want to thank htose involved for all your help in getting supplies to Duchity. They are in the process of setting up a formal CTC there, from what I have heard. However, I am still getting informal reports of high incidence of both cases and deaths. I don't have numbers at all. Our partner organization in the area, OJPDD, has gone out and done some cholera prevention education in all localities of Duchity and has begun in Derriveaux ( I think that's 4th and 5th sections of Pestel). They have distributed some chlorox and soap, but not nearly enough - people are coming back already asking for more.
After reading the recent report from Sud-Est, I am wondering if a similar survey could be done in this area of Grande'Anse, and appropriate support services located. OJPDD presented me with a formal request to do further education, distribution of JIF and soap, and construction of latrines. We do not have the budget for these extensive activities, although I am working with them on revising the approach.
People in this area are very very poor, and quite isolated. They tell the OJPDD trainers that no one else has reached them or spoken to them.
Any thoughts on what else HEAS or some other organization could do? I do have people in the area who can accompany trained staff, or willing to be trained. Of course, some kind of payment for any work is always very much appreciated.
I will be in the area in March 5 -18, but that seems too far away given that people are dying every day.
thanks again for your great work!

Her organization, Youthaiti has been doing education training in 16 localities of Duchity area. They could possibly train people in other locations as well. They make composting toilets and Arborloo toilets. The majority of people still do not have toilets or access to clean water or even soap.
