The Ministry Of Good Shepherd Ministries of Haiti Today
Bill Younger, with the support of his wife Sandy, became the Executive Director of GSM in 1998. Since that time, they have maintained a fresh vision and vitality for the ministry. They live on the field full time. Lamar Lyon joined the work in 2007 as Administrator.

GSM now maintains three large centers of ministry in northern Haiti. The main compound is in Milot, with additional compounds in the villages of Biclaire and Savanne Carre. In each of these villages we have a school, church buildings, and other facilities. Around 1600 children are enrolled in our Christian schools. The evangelization, discipleship, and education of these children are the primary focus of the ministry today.

Thousands of children have passed through our schools. Many have gone on to seminaries, universities, medical schools, and positions in government. Many have become pastors. Others have continued on with GSM as principals, teachers, and in other positions of service. It is our hope that all will go forth as missionaries in their own country.

Only minor damage to facilities. They are 80 miles north of the epicenter of the quake. Community is reporting severe lack of food supplies and increased fuel costs.

STATUS REPORT #5 - Jan 23 11:30 am est:

We heard from Joselyn. His family is safe. We are not sure about the condition of the home they were living in. But he is hoping to bring them back to Milot. There is a huge migration of refugees moving northward. Many have already arrived in the Milot area. Floods of medical patients are also arriving in the north, with medical personnel searching for any available facilities. The reports we are hearing from our Haitian friends in the north is that amputation is the most common procedure taking place, due to infections, and the lack of necessary medical supplies to save life and limb. Doctors have no other recourse. Already strained pre-quake food and fuel supplies are now being taxed severely. Already high prices have spiked accordingly. Bill and Sandy are scheduled to return on Feb 9. They will be assisting people we know in resettling their families to the north, around Milot. We will also make our extensive facilities available, as we are able, for both medical and temporary housing needs.
