Mission: International Medical Alliance(IMA) is a nonprofit organization that provides medical relief and care to under-served and vulnerable people around the world through medical mission trips. International Medical Alliance recruits qualified medical mission teams and offers short-term medical trips for volunteer doctors, dentists and other health care professionals as well as non-medical volunteers to conduct medical clinics in areas where medical care is limited or difficult to obtain. International Medical Alliance was founded on the belief that knowledge of basic health facts and access to medical relief and care should be shared by all nations, regions, and classes.
Our goal is for the medical mission trips to establish long term relationships that allow us to revisit each of the villages once a year. On medical mission trips volunteers are able to experience and share in a new culture. We make a multi-year commitment for the benefit of the communities that we serve on our trips. With our medical mission team, support staff, and the health care supplies and medicines that we will bring with us on each medical mission trip, we can see hundreds of patients each clinic day.
The burden of disease in these areas is three-fold: the chronic conditions of arthritis, hypertension, diabetes, cancer and stroke and heart disease, treated with long-term medications; acute skin, respiratory and GI problems, treated short-term; and conditions incident to the tropics, including malaria, cutaneous leishmaniasis, TB, leprosy, AIDS, filariasis, brucellosis, helminthiasis and undernutrition treated with the currently recommended medicines.

International Medical Aliance has put out a call for volunteer nurses to go to Haiti. Please pass the information on.
They are particularly looking for nurses with ICU experience. You will be working long hours in the heat and have more patients to care of than you can imagine. You will have primitive but secure living arrangements and will probably be sleeping on the floor. If you are up to the task please contact us at volunteer@imaonline.org .
