Your Contribution WILL Change and IMPACT the Lives of the people of Haiti Directly!
After five weeks on the ground in Haiti, CAN-DO: Assessed 17 camps, distributed over 150,000 gallons of purified water, helped relocate displaced families, distributed over 15,000 lbs of medical supplies and more than 8,000 lbs of food.
As part of the distribution process, CAN-DO has employed a local Haitian water company, drivers and fixers as a way to aid in the rebuilding process and put money back into the local economy. Right now with the influx of supply going into Haiti our goal is to streamline the distribution process by utilizing the Haitian communities to not only distribute the supplies but to take a more active role in rebuilding their own communities.
As we head back to Haiti, we will continue expand our distribution systems to get aid to the front lines by addressing the severe bottleneck that has occurred. Funds contributed will go directly to expanding these distribution systems to increase effectiveness and efficiency in the relief process for the organizations on the ground, employing the survivors of this disaster to rebuild their communities while providing income generating opportunities in the rebuilding process.
With your help, CAN-DO will continue to get aid to the front lines. You will be able to see your donations at work as CAN-DO continues to document the IMPACT you are making in real time.
If you miss the airing, we will be posting the piece as soon as we receive it on our Haiti Microsite.
I will be retuning to Haiti in a week or two and need your help to continue putting supplies on the street - You can donate directly to CAN-DO via https://secure.can-do.org or NOW you can TEXT - CANDO to 85944 to make a $10 donation - You can view the impact of those donations daily at CAN-DO.org.
CAN-DO has just worked out a deal with MILO Water, a Haitian based mobile water truck company, to do water distribution to areas that are still under supplied with fresh water. Milo will be supplying us with fresh water, trucks and drivers, and we can then make drops along our distribution locations. The more you send, the more we can distribute. Each day, CAN-DO will post a video and ALL receipts of ALL transactions, so you at home can SEE the impact YOU are making here in Haiti in REAL-TIME... without any "RED TAPE"
YOUR DONATIONS WILL ENABLE US TO HELP THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST.
Presently, Haiti is in rescue & recovery mode, the situation on the ground and will become both dangerous and chaotic. CAN-DO will be on the ground in Haiti on January 16th. We will be organizing, and streamlining our supply drop locations, assessment/distribution teams, clearance, security, prioritized assessment of needs, and an effective deployment strategy as aligned to Haiti's top needs.
On this first mission, we are heading out with relief supplies, equipment, and assessment/ground teams in coordination with our partners. YOUR DONATIONS WILL ENABLE US TO REACH AND HELP THOSE WHO NEED IT MOST. We will be documenting and broadcasting the relief efforts to show you the impact you are making every step in this process. Thank you for your support!
I will continue to keep this updated and will alert you to developments. I can not express the extent of the devastation. It is urgent that we do this. Thank you for your support. We can't do it without you.

HAITI January 20, 2010- Outside plaza now with CNN. Will be going live soon- woke to a 6.1- shook us out of bed and into the streets- lost 50 ft of my wall to my base camp- CNN and other journalists jumped frm 2nd story - one in very serious condition- they are working on him now- currently I am doing ground assessments and setting up logistics for distribution- partnered w a Haitian based water co. -we are working on fuel to pump out 100,000 gallons a day - need more diesel! - I supply the gas for the trucks, and they give free purified water - great system- we have distributed 60,000 today and yesterday- working on gas now -trucking it in from Dominican Republic-have not seen one red cross vehicle, world vision etc etc - actually not one big NGO that keeps asking you guys for money- no accountability with these crooks-
HAITI January 19, 2010- One phone call- 30 minutes later 30,000 gallons of purified CLEAN drinking water distributed- with no problems and no bs(red tape) - and something else important to remember, it was a Haitian based company - the same company we are all working with- same company we are trying to raise the fuel for- you guys can make this happen- are making it happen! -Thank you from Haiti!
HAITI January 19, 2010- I am cruising around in a 1200 gallon water truck- with a local here that has an operation (where I am staying) they have 17 trucks that can do 100,000 gallons of purified water A DAY- I have seen the operation it's real and it's legit- he needs desiel - need 10,000 gallons to make it happen/5,000 would do for now- I have documented it all to show anyone who can help back in the states or here in HAITI this can happen if someone supplies us the fuel- once we have the fuel, once we have the fuel, we can but fully operational within 8 hours- if there are ANY NGO's here that are in the business of setting up wells, please contact me at ek@can-do.org!!!!!!! It's really bad out here- thx! ek
HAITI January 18, 2010- All good- not much sleep- heading out down into Delmas neighbourhood (5-10miles from airport) - so far, we have established 1 POD (point of distribution) outside the house where we are staying- just so those of you checking in know, the plan here is- we are setting up or identifying distribution points as we go along for our return in February (this info will also be passed along to other orgs/ngos coming in)- the reason for this is so we can feed these "PODS" with supplies coming in from the nearby airport- will advise- THX
HAITI January 18, 2010- Just left St Louis Highschool- (completely demolished) -1500-2000 people surviving in make shift tents - this would be the most ideal place for distribution of goods and medical services- close to the airport, easier to set up and manage- only thing coming in is water- which tends to cause small riots because there is NOT enough of it - people just trying to survive - please contact North Face- or any sporting good co for tents!! we are in process of setting up logistics for receiving goods. will update accordingly
HAITI January 17, 2010-11:30 PM- If people can please spread the word, or if you have contacts- PLEASE USE THEM- they desperately need the biggest triage tents they make or mobile operating units that can be brought over on the barges(they r deftly out there, we have seen them in the past)-They r turning people away from the hospitals because they r at total capacity - we r tying to set up makeshift field hospitals- we also will need the equipment to run them successfully- generators, mobile ac units, water tanks, anesthesia/oxygen tanks, auto clavs etc to make them operational-(the right people that u reach out to will know what it will take to make this happen) -there is obviously a need for everything out here.... I am sitting outside the house @11:30pm with a group of doctors out of Denver and this might be something u guys(facebook contacts) can start reaching out for- its a MAJOR necessity out here - please do what u can-thx ek

How You Can Help
Supplies, tents, and mobile operating units can be sent over on the barges. We need the necessary medical equipment to supply these makeshift field hospitals: generators, mobile A/C units, water tanks, anesthesia, oxygen tanks, medicines. These supplies and funding for these supplies are needed now -it is an absolute critical necessity. Take action. Spread the word. Mobilize. Donate. We need it. Please do whatever you can to help us get medical attention to earthquake survivors.
I will continue to keep this updated and will alert you to developments. I can not express the extent of the devastation. It is urgent that we do this. Thank you for your support. We can't do it without you.

How We Are Helping Haiti
CAN-DO partners up with some heavy
hitters to bring direct relief to Haiti
The aftermath of the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti is quickly unfolding, showing the millions of people in need. CAN-DO has jumped into action with our grassroots, \"get it done\" approach paired with extensive experience in some of the world's worst disasters. Our cutting-edge technology, incredible partners, and innovative programs will provide effective relief and create a lasting, sustainable impact.

Thank you for your support!

Before retuning back to the US, Dr. Sanjay asked me if I could help out and find her family a tent...we did one better...we found her a beautiful house where they are now living today - check out the full story tonight on CNN Anderson Cooper's 360!
If you miss the airing, we will be posting the piece as soon as we receive it on our Haiti Microsite.

HAITI January 17, 2010- We arrived safely- thanks guys for your support- really appreciate it! I am staying at a contacts place, about 10 miles from the airport- Gregory, a local here is putting us up for the night- we got a solid roof over our head so we lucked out- will be heading out at 7am tomorrow to start assessment- the images you guys are seeing back there don't begin to describe what is really happening here- will keep you posted.

Hey guys,
just got back from Haiti after 35 days in the field - We have updates and some GREAT video showing the impact you all made since CAN-DO has been on the ground- Tonight I ask that you please take the time to watch Anderson Cooper's 360 (7pm PST or 10pm EST) which will highlight CAN-DO's efforts on the ground concerning a little girl by the name of Kimberly that Dr. Sanjay preformed emergency surgery on...After being released from the US Comfort Kimberly returned home to find her home completely leveled and was forced to live under a tarp with her 8 family members.
Thanks guys!!! You are truly making a real impact in Haiti!

CAN-DO UPDATES FROM THE FIELD IN HAITI:
HAITI January 22, 2010- 9:55 p.m.- Musician Lenny Kravitz, Cindy Crawford and her husband Randy Gerber are helping in the effort to send a cargo plane to Haiti with medical supplies. Kravitz, a longtime friend of Sidney Torres, is helping us with the many logistics involved in securing supplies and clearing the way for entry into Haiti. The first flight leaves on Sunday.
The first triage stations arrived today. We are picking them and will begin loading the plane. The supplies were given to us by our partner, the Franciscan Missionaries.
HAITI January 21, 2010- 1:53 p.m.- Picking up diesel and working on 2nd medical/supply pick up from airport- had another small quake about 1hr ago-

Think about that...they are delivering babies and operating with flash lights... Goodnight. Ek
HAITI January 20, 2010- 8:35 p.m.- EK IS HELPING TO DELIVER A BABY RIGHT NOW!!!! CAN-DO TEAM
HAITI January 20, 2010- We just picked up MEDICAL supplies from Airline Ambassadors and are in the trucks now on our way to distribute with them now - working together we are saving lives!! thx, ek
HAITI January 20, 2010- we just set up 5th supply/water drop - Haitian's are taking control - very organized and wanting to help themselves- they are sick of waiting- they are making lists of how many people, what the basic needs and organizing their neighborhoods -EK-
HAITI January 20, 2010- we are currently in transit to airport to pick up medical supplies to take to general hospital (HUEH) - I just left the hospital- they moved everyone outside in the sun because of today's quake- when the sun goes down they are operating with flash lights- they need supplies !!! They are giving people aspirin as pain killers!- we will be at the hospital in 15 mins to pick up supplies from united plane that landed 20 mins ago medical supplies- we have not got clearance yet- will keep u posted- EK-
HAITI January 20, 2010- Outside plaza now with CNN.

---------------------------------------------------------------
HAITI January 17, 2010-11:30 PM- If people can please spread the word, or if you have contacts- PLEASE USE THEM- they desperately need the biggest triage tents they make or mobile operating units that can be brought over on the barges(they r deftly out there, we have seen them in the past)-They r turning people away from the hospitals because they r at total capacity - we r tying to set up makeshift field hospitals- we also will need the equipment to run them successfully- generators, mobile ac units, water tanks, anesthesia/oxygen tanks, auto clavs etc to make them operational-(the right people that u reach out to will know what it will take to make this happen) -there is obviously a need for everything out here.... I am sitting outside the house @11:30pm with a group of doctors out of Denver and this might be something u guys(facebook contacts) can start reaching out for- its a MAJOR necessity out here - please do what u can-thx ek

------------------------------------------------------------
HAITI January 19, 2010- I am cruising around in a 1200 gallon water truck- with a local here that has an operation (where I am staying) they have 17 trucks that can do 100,000 gallons of purified water A DAY- I have seen the operation it's real and it's legit- he needs desiel - need 10,000 gallons to make it happen/5,000 would do for now- I have documented it all to show anyone who can help back in the states or here in HAITI this can happen if someone supplies us the fuel- once we have the fuel, once we have the fuel, we can but fully operational within 8 hours- if there are ANY NGO's here that are in the business of setting up wells, please contact me at ek@can-do.org!!!!!!! It's really bad out here- thx! ek
------------------------------------------------------------
HAITI January 18, 2010- All good- not much sleep- heading out down into Delmas neighbourhood (5-10miles from airport) - so far, we have established 1 POD (point of distribution) outside the house where we are staying- just so those of you checking in know, the plan here is- we are setting up or identifying distribution points as we go along for our return in February (this info will also be passed along to other orgs/ngos coming in)- the reason for this is so we can feed these "PODS" with supplies coming in from the nearby airport- will advise- THX
