notes: 2nd Update on our Fire Situation Dear Friends of LBWF, I wanted to write a personal note to express my deep gratitude and thanks to all the volunteers who have come to our aid over the past few days. They waited and watched as flames raced across the top of the mountain. This has been an extremely unnerving time but we have been able to pull through with the help of all the kind souls that have come forward. Thank you to everyone who has responded to our pleas for manpower, crates, and willingness to wake up at a moment’s notice to help us evacuate. Because of the overwhelming response we are prepared to take action should the need arise. The latest update from fire officials is that the potential containment date of this horrific fire will fall some time after Labor Day. We will be on pins and needles until the fire is contained as it only takes one burning ember to float across the highway to send us packing. I would like to send a special thanks to Donna, Renee, Cara, Margaret, Bjorn, Theresa, Kelli, Anthony, Ray and Gina for being there for me and the dogs. We are not out of the woods yet and will continue to update the site with pertinent information regarding our potential evacuation. For those who have emailed with words of support and offers of help please bear with us as we answer you all. The support has been overwhelming. It’s so wonderful to know we have so many people on our side. The last 24 hours have been incredibly scary and we are no where near being out of the woods. We have been informed that the containment dates for this fire, at this time, are going past Labor Day. This means we’ve got a ways to go before we aren’t on edge any more. The fire has burned more than 100,00 acres and two firefighters have already lost their lives. This is no small deal. We send our love, support, and deep gratitude to our emergency responders. Without their hard work and dedication, our fear would be even stronger and this fire, taking over our foundation, an even bigger reality. Many of you have asked how you can help and there are several things you can do to support LBWF through this crisis. Our first and biggest need are donations. We need financial donations to help us with the many costs that can/will arise from this crisis situation. We are also in need of donated crates, at least 42″ in size as our doggies are large. We can always use blankets and dog bowls as well. If you are able to donate, you may do so here or if you would like more information on donations you can email worldheartdonations@gmail.com.
