mission: from website: Those from the district who attended the training before Christmas thought that it would be helpful to start with flood buckets (in preparation for spring) and health kits (small, easy and inexpensive). {The kit information is under "Help Us" on the Mission Central webpage.} We are hoping to add school kits beginning in the summer (when school supplies are on good sales). Drop-off can be done during church office hours Monday through Friday 9a.m. til 1 p.m. Other hours are available but will need to be scheduled. Please e-mail or call Lenore. Churches are encouraged to choose either a few items in which to collect or maybe challenge your congregation to complete a given number of kits within so many weeks. As we collect enough individual items to make kits, we will announce availability for work days, too. St. Paul is excited to be able to offer space to collect as well as assemble kits for district churches. -> from website: After over a year of ministry, the Chambersburg HUB is reaping the blessings of many churches, individuals and community groups in Franklin, Adams and Fulton County and beyond. Over the past quarter, we also received relief items from churches in West Virginia and from local schools for Haiti. We say "thank you" to our friends who have delivered supplies, assembled kits and delivered items to Mission Central. The ministry of the HUB has been blessed by your servant hearts. In turn, MANY people throughout the world have benefited from the generosity shown here in our midst. In the first quarter of 2010 alone, we have delivered items to Mission Central (en route to many other parts of the world), Birmingham, Alabama, the Chambersburg area, and the West Bank. Your kindness in the name of Christ reaches farther than we can even begin to imagine. The Chambersburg HUB regularly collects items for UMCOR school kits, health kits and cleaning buckets for assembly and distribution. We will also collect items for other UMCOR kits as the need arises or items are donated. We are currently collecting items for layette kits and birthing kits for Haiti Relief. Please see the main page for information about kits. Gently used clothing and household items (small appliances, blankets, etc.) to be distributed by the Chambersburg Cluster Clothing Ministry on the 3rd Thursday of each month at First UMC can also be dropped off at the HUB throughout the month. The Shepherd Society (one of our Advances through the General Board of Global Ministries) is also in need of children's chewable vitamins, prenatal vitamins (over the counter), Tylenol, Glucosamine and Calcium tablets (with Vitamin D) to distribute to low-income families in Bethlehem. Donations can be delivered to the HUB. While we accept many other items, we ask that you please call first before you deliver them so that we can make arrangements for storage or delivery.
