I have been informed by my friend who is working in the distribution center for New Iberia parish that they are running out of canned goods.

It has been a month but there is still a great need- and even the simplest of food.

They ARE RUNNING OUT OF CANNED GOODS to feed the people in the shelters. They served 800 people on monday after rita.

The church that is running this does have loading docks for trucks.
(joe mitchell, tulane student has limited access so i am posting this for him)

"Our church is the distribution center for Iberia Parish. We're the only one, so we get a lot of need for things. The supply list is: Bottled water, ice, large garbage bags, sanitization supplies, dish soap, disposable plates cups and utensils, Paper towels and napkins, disposable gloves, toilet paper, all toiletries, cleansing wipes, sanitary napkins, soap, washing powder, baby food, baby wipes, pampers newborn to 2 yrs., Any uncooked(canned or boxed) food items, elderly depends, pull-ups, Hand towels, big bath towels, washcloths, febreeze, disposable razors, ensure and boost drinks, denture cleaner, toothbrushes, and any other items that you can think of that people would need.

And of course we need volunteers.

We have a couple of people that are doing the missing persons thing here at the church. They take pictures of the folks and post them on the internet.

I gotta get going, I have work to do this morning.
