Mission: It was through the individual stories of personal loss
that this organization began and it will be our focus until
restoration is completed. Each person has been affected in a
different way by this tragedy and each community will face
different challenges. We are not a generic nation. And for
that reason, House by House has accepted the challenge to
preserve the uniqueness and cultural integrity of each
community by telling their stories and rebuilding their
dreams one household at a time; beginning with New Orleans'
Holy Cross Neighborhood in the Ninth Ward.

Notes:

While news reports continue to paint a picture of a community
devastated beyond repair little has been said about large
section of the Ninth Ward, the Historic Holy Cross neighborhood
where people are ready and eager to rebuild. Placed on higher
ground, this community was spared the death blow of the levee
failures and is now poised to be the cornerstone of restoration
for the beleaguered Ninth Ward residents. Projects are underway.

Volunteers
Residents in the Ninth Ward are still in need of those who could
volunteer their time and efforts in clean-up and re-building
preparation. We are in the process of coordinating lodging for
groups willing to be involved in this effort.
