Established and incorporated in August 1965, PEARL RIVER VALLEY OPPORTUNITY, INC. is a private non-profit (501(c)(3) Community Action Agency incorporated under the laws of the State of Mississippi.
PRVO's ultimate goal is to eliminate the paradox of poverty in its service area by opening to everyone the opportunity for education and training, the opportunity to work, and the opportunity to live in decency and dignity as envisioned under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964.
Our mission is to provide comprehensive, diversified and quality services to socially and/or economically disadvantaged individuals, children, families, and businesses within the State of Mississippi.
PRVO, INC. is accountable to a twenty-four (24) member Executive Board of Directors composed of representatives from private, public, and specific target sectors of each community PRVO serves. The agency currently has more than four hundred (400) employees.

PRVO is a Certified Housing Development Organization (CHDO). PRVO is the sole member of its housing company, PRVO Construction and Development, LLC. PRVO organized this company to construct new homes and apartment units in Mississippi. PRVO Construction and Development, LLC employs experienced and capable subcontractors. However, all subcontractor work is monitored by PRVO’s Housing Director and Assistant Housing Director, as well as the architect who provided the plans and specifications. Therefore, all homes must undergo several inspections to ensure that they are constructed properly. PRVO and its Affiliates have constructed subdivisions in Laurel, Greenville, Hattiesburg, and Columbia.
