Our shelter location is presently at 1201 Hwy 90, Bay St. Louis, MS 39520. We had the capacity to sleep 120, but we have scaled down due to the flow of volunteers. (Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC and Drywall to name a few) "Give a man a fish he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a life time" Production Strategy: Expediency, effectiveness and efficiency are the key ingredients that make our program run smoothly. We presently have the capability of manufacturing 50 homes per month. Our installation of these homes is much slower and is contingent on the use of volunteers. WE are estimating the capability of 10 homes per month based on the present scheduling of volunteers. In the next few months, if we can not increase or maintain this rate of installation, we will hire labors and/or sub contractors as needed. Unfortunately the will raise the overall price of the homes. Each home is manufactured in Fort Dodge, IA and is shipped to the Gulf Coast. The wall sections for each house are packaged with specific installation instructions, which make construction knowledge helpful but not required to assist in the assembly of these homes. Once the structure has been built and is dried in, we endeavor to assist the families by consulting with them for the completion of their home. We will provide such assistance as gathering materials, services and coordinating volunteers to help them through the rebuilding process. Over the next few month we will be addressing the need to offer a complete turnkey package for the homeowners. Presently we are interviewing and pricing key trades people and suppliers to complete different elements of the home.
