People for Animals was formed to champion the cause of animals, as they cannot fight for themselves. Ms. Maneka Gandhi started PfA in 1993. The Chennai Chapter of PfA was started in 1995.At PfA we believe that in every form of life, there is a heart that ticks in a silent yearning for life. We believe in sensitivity to LIFE- a sensitivity to respond to every being in hunger, thirst or pain. We believe in AHIMSA- to LIVE and HELP LIVE.

Today we have three animal care centres, 43 employees with numerous programs.
