Hurricane recovery slows as funds dwindle Grass-roots fund seeks national support to `Finish the Job' of rebuilding in Katrina-damaged Mississippi.
GULFPORT, MS?A newly formed non-profit, Finish the Job, is seeking

Fostered by area long term recovery organizations, Finish the Job seeks

Tens of thousands of families still need help as they continue living in cramped travel trailers or damaged structures while the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaches.

funding are running out," said Michelle Wilson, executive director of Rebuild Jackson County.
Finish the Job was established as a fund of the Gulf Coast Community

Asking every American to give $1 is Finish the Job's simple approach to raising the millions necessary to continue the recovery effort. Rebuilding from a storm of Katrina's magnitude is predicted to take at least five years. Both home owners and renters will be eligible for Finish the Job assistance.
The grass-roots fund raising effort is drawing enthusiastic support from
volunteers, representing agencies from the Mississippi coast to the state capital, who are giving their talents and time to planning the project. Finish the Job fund will be promoted nationwide.

As far as Operation TLC, no we are in no way connected with them. That is JCR3 that is part of Operation TLC. We are the umbrella that all Disaster Releif Organizations access funds through, if that helps you make your determination.
>These projects are still at the same point however I have a team coming in
to start on the Woodmont St. project this weekend and have partnered
prospectively with Habitat for Humanity on the Elder Ferry home. We are a
community sponsored agency. We were set up on the guidelines of FEMA long
term recovery. Our funding comes from local businesses and community
foundations. And we work in conjunction with all agencies serving in
hurricane releif, public private, for profit, non-profit, faith based.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Rebuild Jackson County, need project update
Here are the two projects we've got listed for you. Can you just give me a
quick update on where these projects are? Maybe they are just where they
were last month when you gave me the data. Either way, I wanted to check.
Also, your group...it's faith-based, right? We're going to start tracking
that, because some vol groups are looking to go with faith-based crews. If
you're county/city or other government sponsored, I want to track that,
too, cuz some groups only want to work with government sponsored crews.
Also, if any projects are "historic". We'll have a new tracking sheet
ready soon.
Please give me an up to date status on these. And...If these two projects
are done, can you give me a couple more to list? so I can keep your
database record current?
1. Woodmont St. Project, In Process MS Pascagoula Open Sponsoring
Agency: Rebuild Jackson County, Project Manager: Brian Rivers 228-218-6025
Notes: This home has been completely gutted. The client needs insulation,
sheetrock, flooring and ceiling board installed in the home. Material will
be provided by agency. This client was a police officer at the time of the
storm and was injured on duty while serving the community. Client is still
on inactive status with the P.D. Client has separated from finance' due to
confined spaces in the FEMA travel trailer and now has to live separate
from his children.
2. Elder Ferry Project, In Process MS Moss Point Open Sponsoring
Agency: Rebuild Jackson County, Project Manager: Brian Rivers 228-218-6025
Notes: This project will require the home to be gutted, then repaired. The
roof has been repaired and the subfloor leveled. This project must be
completed by volunteers as there is insufficient funds available to use
contractors. There is basic work to be done in the home, flooring,
insulation, windows, and door frames. Material will be provided by agency.
This client has been in a FEMA travel trailer for 2 plus years. The
client's health has deteriorated greatly since we started with the client
and the home is going to have to be handicap accessible. It is a small
home.
-> Not clear how many orgs Brian runs. Rebuilding Jackson County, Finish the Job, and others have his name attached.

Hurricane recovery slows as funds dwindle Grass-roots fund seeks national support to `Finish the Job' of rebuilding in Katrina-damaged Mississippi.
GULFPORT, MS—A newly formed non-profit, Finish the Job, is seeking
financial support from private and corporate donors nationwide in a grass-roots attempt to place all of Mississippi's Katrina survivors in safe, secure homes of their own.
Fostered by area long term recovery organizations, Finish the Job seeks
to generate a new funding resource for Mississippians who may otherwise be left without help as donated funds from national agencies begin to run low. Tens of thousands of families still need help as they continue living in cramped travel trailers or damaged structures while the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaches.
"This is a way we can help our neighbors, even if some sources of
funding are running out," said Michelle Wilson, executive director of Rebuild Jackson County.
Finish the Job was established as a fund of the Gulf Coast Community
Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. United Way, many faith-based agencies, and individuals from several national relief organizations are also supporting the effort.
