Services, Employment, Internship Program available at Bernardine Center ~ Food Cupboard

Internships and Immersion Experiences

The Bernardine Center sponsors internship of varying lengths according to the availability of the person applying. Internships give the person not only the
experience of volunteering, but delve into the WHY of poverty, and provide time for reading and study. Usually the person will be assigned a particular task according to interest, which will give insight into the needs and address what can be done about it.

Immersion experiences are arranged for groups who can spend a few days studying the issues of poverty. The history of Chester is addressed, guest speakers explain, and field trips taken to clarify the results of living in a low-income neighborhood. Since Chester has taken a turn towards recovery, evidences of it will be examined.
