Why let trash go to waste when you can recycle it into energy?

AIDG’s second incubated business will work to address two problems plaguing Haiti’s 2nd largest city: poor sanitation and inadequate energy sources. The planned enterprise will empty the city’s public latrines and turn collected organic and human waste into biogas. The fuel could in turn be used for electricity co-generation.

We are currently working on a partnership with Oxfam, the municipal government of Cap Haitien, and local community groups to see how our planned sanitation business can fit into a municipal scale waste treatment and biogas plant in Cap Haitien.

We are looking to employ a biogas plant design similar to models put out by Ashden Award winners, Bio-Tech of Kerala, India.

As part of a pilot project, AIDG will install a community-scale biodigester for a pottery collective in Lori, Haiti. The biogas generated will fuel a small kiln.
