Housing, Volunteer Housing * (ANY/ALL Types) available at Relief Spark

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Relief Spark! We have recently joined forces with another grassroots organization, Phoenix of New Orleans and together we offer housing in newly renovated single shotgun houses which have hard wood floors, high ceilings and your very own bed.....or air mattress!

Each house has AC, a full kitchen with stove/oven and microwave and of course a refrigerator. The houses feature living rooms that offer seating and TV (yes, we have cable) as well as a porch to sit out on and.....well, to sit out on and socialize amongst yourselves (not many neighbors have returned).

Below are our most frequently asked questions:

ARRIVAL DAY/TIME
Ideally you should plan to arrive on Saturday afternoon so you can get settled in and we can show you the neighborhood. On Sunday there is orientation in which we will cover everything from what our purpose is, our programs, what we are focusing on, policies and neighborhood planning meetings.

WHAT TO BRING
We provide bed linens, towels, etc. All you need to bring is clothes, toiletries and we ask that you also bring 1 Tyvek suit per day you plan on gutting houses and a pair of steel toe boots.

ARE THERE ANY COSTS INVOLVED?
Yes. We are two small organizations that are paying rent for all properties that house volunteers. We ask for a $75.00/week donation to help cover these costs. You will also need to bring money for food - we have an awesome grocery store down the street and around the corner that offers 114 different types of fruits and veggies. Your house will be stocked with canned goods, pasta and other foods that don't spoil, but you really should plan to buy your own groceries.
