Powerhouse Fire Quick Facts:
32,274 acres burned and 78 percent containment (UPDATE mid-June: 100% contained)

SUMMARY:
The Powerhouse Fire was reported to the fire authorities at approximately 3:30 p.m. on 5-30-13. The fire is now in its eighthday of action.
T he fire has burned 32,274 acres and is 78 percent contained.
More than 300 structures remain threaten by the fire. The fire continues to show heat as it burns up the vegetation, especially in the Cottonwood Campground area. There is still a potential threat of flare - ups across the
Lake Elizabeth Canyon (North/West) area due to some heavy unburned fuels.
The firefighting efforts continue to make significant progress with the containment of the
fire at 78 percent. Fire crews and Incident Management Teams are
starting the process of de-mobilization as they are being returned back to their home departments and agencies. Overall, 40 local departments from California have assisted with the Powerhouse Fire efforts in addition to Federal and States resources represented.
All evacuation orders have been lifted for Antelope Acres from Lancaster Rd. to Hwy 138 (Ave. D), between 170th and 190 th Streets; Lake Hughes and Lake Elizabeth communities; residential area at Munz Ranch Rd. and California Aqueduct; and areas north of South Portal and west of San Francisquito Canyon Rd. Access to these areas are for residents only (valid I.D.).
The American Red Cross (ARC) ahelter at Marie Kerr Park Recreational Center is
closed and the facility has been returned back to the City of Palmdale. ARC will
continue to work with clients who utilized the shelter and continue to have a presence at the Powerhouse Fire Incident Command Post.
On 6-4-13, the Chairman of the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors proclaimed the existence of a local emergency and requested that the Governor of the State of California issue a proclamation declaring an emergency in Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles County Department of Community and Senior Services (CSS) Adult Protective Services successfully contacted all of its clients and reported that none were displaced by the fire.
The CSS Aging and Adult Services Call Center provided ARC shelter and cooling center information. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (PH) issued Boil Water notices to the residents living in the San Francisquito Canyon area. PH is also conducting inspections of the small water systems in the Lake Hughes impacted area.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services staff is on standby
should the conditions change where a shelter will have to be re-opened. Currently, the ARC shelter at Marie Kerr Park Recreational Center in Palmdale
is closed.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (DPW) was granted access to the impacted areas and continues the process of conducting damage assessments of the infrastructure and structures/buildings. DPW Damage Assessment teams have been allowed in the communities of Green Valley, Leona Valley, Lake Hughes and Lake Elizabeth areas.
The Los Angeles Co unty Animal Care and Control staff is still on scene
conducting operations at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds. The staff continues the process of returning animals to their owners whose evacuation orders were lifted. Southern California Edison continues its efforts in repairing and/or replacing damaged poles caused by the fire.

SUMMARY:
The Powerhouse Fire was reported to the fire authorities at approximately 3:30 p.m. on 5-30-13. The fire is now in its eighthday of action.
T he fire has burned 32,274 acres and is 78 percent contained.
More than 300 structures remain threaten by the fire. The fire continues to show heat as it burns up the vegetation, especially in the Cottonwood Campground area. There is still a potential threat of flare - ups across the
Lake Elizabeth Canyon (North/West) area due to some heavy unburned fuels.
The firefighting efforts continue to make significant progress with the containment of the
fire at 78 percent. Fire crews and Incident Management Teams are
starting the process of de-mobilization as they are being returned back to their home departments and agencies. Overall, 40 local departments from California have assisted with the Powerhouse Fire efforts in addition to Federal and States resources represented.
All evacuation orders have been lifted for Antelope Acres from Lancaster Rd. to Hwy 138 (Ave. D), between 170th and 190 th Streets; Lake Hughes and Lake Elizabeth communities; residential area at Munz Ranch Rd. and California Aqueduct; and areas north of South Portal and west of San Francisquito Canyon Rd. Access to these areas are for residents only (valid I.D.).
The American Red Cross (ARC) ahelter at Marie Kerr Park Recreational Center is
closed and the facility has been returned back to the City of Palmdale. ARC will
continue to work with clients who utilized the shelter and continue to have a presence at the Powerhouse Fire Incident Command Post.
On 6-4-13, the Chairman of the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors proclaimed the existence of a local emergency and requested that the Governor of the State of California issue a proclamation declaring an emergency in Los Angeles County. The Los Angeles County Department of Community and Senior Services (CSS) Adult Protective Services successfully contacted all of its clients and reported that none were displaced by the fire.
The CSS Aging and Adult Services Call Center provided ARC shelter and cooling center information. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (PH) issued Boil Water notices to the residents living in the San Francisquito Canyon area. PH is also conducting inspections of the small water systems in the Lake Hughes impacted area.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services staff is on standby
should the conditions change where a shelter will have to be re-opened. Currently, the ARC shelter at Marie Kerr Park Recreational Center in Palmdale
is closed.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (DPW) was granted access to the impacted areas and continues the process of conducting damage assessments of the infrastructure and structures/buildings. DPW Damage Assessment teams have been allowed in the communities of Green Valley, Leona Valley, Lake Hughes and Lake Elizabeth areas.
The Los Angeles Co unty Animal Care and Control staff is still on scene
conducting operations at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds. The staff continues the process of returning animals to their owners whose evacuation orders were lifted. Southern California Edison continues its efforts in repairing and/or replacing damaged poles caused by the fire.
