Hurricane Recovery

United Way of Acadiana is there for neighbors before, during and after a disaster.

We know Acadiana residents are naturally generous and ready to help neighbors in need, and we thank you for your continued support as our area recovers from Hurricane Isaac.

As always, United Way of Acadiana is committed to helping neighbors recover from the storm and is working with first responders such as the American Red Cross, fellow United Ways and community organizations to help those impacted by Hurricane Isaac in the surrounding Acadiana parishes and throughout the state.

Here are a few ways you can help:

Monetary donations can be made online to the Greater Acadiana United Way Disaster Fund. Donations to the The Greater Acadiana United Way Disaster Fund leverage resources and make the greatest impact in long-term recovery efforts for community members in Acadia, Assumption, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, Lafourche, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Terrebonne and Vermilion parishes following Hurricane Isaac. Additional opportunities to give to Gulf Coast communities impacted by Hurricane Isaac are also available on www.UnitedWayofAcadiana.org

Neighbors wishing to volunteer should register to become a disaster volunteer. United Way of Acadiana is equipped to connect registered volunteers to Volunteer Reception Centers throughout the state and can connect volunteers with local projects as they arise.

Lastly, should you know someone in need, encourage them to call 2-1-1 for assistance. Simply dial the three-digit number from any phone – including cell phones – and an operator will assist. These call specialists utilize a network of information from government, private and nonprofit organizations to collaborate services for people in need.
