We understand there has been significant damage to the area and people are curious and perhaps anxious to help, but please be sympathetic to your neighbors who can’t get into their homes to recover items.
Volunteers who wish to assist with clean-up should register at the student recreation center on the campus of Missouri Southern State University. Red Cross staff is working to set up a phone bank with one or two dedicated phone numbers that volunteers can call. Recovery will take several weeks, and the city will need help through the rebuilding effort. Once those numbers have been established, we will publish them on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CityOfJoplin.
