Mission: The goals that have been established are three fold:

A. Rebuild Homes

There is still much clean up to do (clean up of trees, debris, exterior and interior of homes and church buildings, and temporary repairs to those facilities)

B. Rebuild Lives

It is the desire of all those who join together for this ministry to help in the rebuilding of the lives of the residents of Bogalusa by helping them restore to normal their lives by the repair and rebuilding of their dwellings

C. Rebuild Hope

We who are coming together to minister to this community believe that we can help restore hope as we come together from many communities across the United States and combine our efforts, working side by side, to show the residents of this community that much can be accomplished as we work together. We also believe that as we include the residents of Bogalusa in working with us, they can catch a glimpse of what they can do, in spite of their economic condition, if they begin to work together. And ultimately, our desire is to let them see the Love of Jesus Christ in our lives. We know that can make both an earthly and eternal difference in their lives. This will give them the Ultimate Hope

Areas Served: WA Parish
Eligibility For Services: Survivors of Hurricane Katrina & Gustav

Fee For Service: No

This organization provides Temporary or Permanent Service? Temporary

Notes:

9/1/08 FROM THE WEBSITE:

In the event that Hurricane Gustav has a dramatic impact on the Bogalusa area, we will:

Post updates on the type of damage that has occured and the present condition of the city

Provide information on how our partners might best be able to assist this community if they feel led to do so

Begin to coordinate and facilitate any groups that might be interested in partnering with us to make a difference for Christ in tangible, practical ways

How are we preparing now:

We are meeting with city and parish officials every morning at 9 AM to make necessary, coordinated plans to ensure that we can effectively respond to any disaster that might occur

Pastor Marcus, Westside Emmanuel, has already made arrangements with the disaster relief teams from the Salvation Army who partnered with Westside as first responders after Katrina. These folks will provide hot meals to our community (last hurricane they served over 1000 meals a day). Westside will also serve as a distribution site for dried goods, water, and personal items.

Pastor Bob Adams, FBC Bogalusa, has secured a feeding unit from the SBC, along with a chain saw crew if activated to our area

Local pastors have met and begun to establish procedures for communicating with one another in the event that we lose phone capabilities again
