Welcome to St. Martin Parish, located in South Louisiana. The St. Martin Parish Government seat is located in St. Martinville, about 15 minutes south of Lafayette in the "heart of Acadiana." The Parish has a population of 48,583. Agriculture and aquaculture play a significant role in the economy of the parish, with sugar cane being the major commercial agricultural crop and crawfish being the major aquacultural crop.

The St. Martin Parish Council is the legislative and policy making body of the Parish. The Parish President is the chief administrative officer of parish government and is assisted by the administrative staff and the parish's operating departments.

LOUISIANA ACTIVATES BUSINESS EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER
The Louisiana Business Emergency Operations Center, or LA BEOC, an annex to the State Emergency Operations Center, is now activated to prepare for Mississippi River flooding and related impacts. Louisiana's businesses are strongly encouraged to register with the LA BEOC portal --www.labeoc.org -- so that they can participate in the process and have a voice in the state's preparedness, response and recovery efforts. VOLUNTARY EVACUATIONS
Residents of Butte LaRose and Stephenson-Belle River area are being asked to evacuate, based on inpending flood waters from Atchafalaya River.

St. Martin Parish Information lines are now available to field any questions concerning the potential rising water. The hours of operation for the information lines will be from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and the numbers are (337) 394-2810 or (337) 394-2811. www.stmartinohsep.org.

SANDBAGS:
Sand bags will be available to the residents of the Butte Larose Community beginning today from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. until further notice at the Butte Larose Boat Ramp (located at the intersection of Herman Dupuis Road and the Atchafalaya River Hwy.) Residents will be responsible for bagging their own sand bags.

Sandbags will be available for Stephensville-Belle River residents from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. until further notice. The procedure will be as follows regarding sandbag distribution: Empty sandbags will be distributed at the Stephensville Recreation Park on Hwy. 70 and then residents will proceed to any of the six following sand distribution locations to fill their own sandbags: Gravel Turnaround Across from Doiron's Landing on Hwy. 70 Stepehensville Rd. across from the Stephensville Fire Station East Stephensville Road at the Bus turn around near the Mosquito Bar End of Four Mile Bayou Road Water Tower on Tower Tank Road Hwy. 70 Across from the Belle River Fire Station.
