"Some storm shelter have started to open for people in need of a safe place.

Vestavia Hills Civic Center will be a Red Cross shelter starting at 5:00 p.m. It's located at 1975 Merryvale Road off Highway 31.

Gethsemane Baptist Church on Highway 160 in Hayden is opening their basement for those needing shelter.

The City of Westover Storm Shelter is OPEN. It is located at the City Hall at 3312 Westover Road, Westover, AL 35147 (on Old Highway 280 just East of Highway 55).

Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham has opened for anyone in need of shelter.

In St. Clair County, citizens can gather at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Cropwell and Springville First United Methodist Church. These two sites have been set up as Red Cross shelters.

The Calera Police Department says a shelter has opened at the National Guard armory in Calera on 8th Avenue.

Pleasant Grove has an emergency command center set up at the Piggly Wiggly in Pleasant Grove, according to Pleasant Grove PD and fire depts."
