Gov. Perdue Requests Disaster Declaration and Establishes Fund to Provide Financial Assistance The Governor announced this morning that she made a request to President Obama for disaster declaration in 18 NC counties. If approved, this would provide low-interest loans or grants to tornado victims. The Governor has also provided a means for financial assistance for victims of the tornadoes and storms through the NC Disaster Relief Fund, which is managed by the Governor's office in partnership with United Way of North Carolina. Donations are tax deductible and 100% of donated funds will go to help with recovery. Visit http://www.ncdisasterrelief.org/ to obtain giving options and information.
