Hopital Albert Schweitzer has confirmed through our local connections
that the dispensary in Deslandes is indeed open and treating cholera
patients, and that the town water system which was repaired this
summer with the help of UNOCHA’s cash for work program is still
functioning. I am not sure what part of Deslandes Communal Section
this reporter may have visited, but it could hardly have been the
village of Deslandes itself. That clinic was not functioning for
perhaps one weekend and a Monday due to local issues, but has been
open since to the best of HAS’ knowledge. Deslandes continues to have
full normal referral privileges to the Verrettes CTC and to HAS,
unless residents or the referring provider at Lachapelle clinic choose
to have them go to Mirbalais instead.

Sincerely,

Mlle. Dawn Johnson
Technical Coordinator, ICS
Hôpital Albert Schweitzer
