Mission: Our mission is to coordinate and provide help, rescue operations, and compassion during and after disasters and emergencies.

Our goal is to partner with existing governmental and relief agencies in order to provide urgently needed evacuation, food, counseling, housing, financial aid, and medicine to victims of disasters. In the aftermath of most disasters, our organization and its founders continue to provide ongoing support to displaced families, medical personnel and rescue workers. We provide air transport, purchase homes, give home rental assistance, and coordinate the transportation of food and medical care to and from disaster areas. 2 Life 18 Foundation, Inc. to this very day continues to provide direct financial assistance to many grassroots organizations that are rebuilding Gulf Coast and Haitian communities. Our long-term goal is to build on the effective mobilization that we have spearheaded as a private-sector based “first response” team: we help victims rebuild their lives following catastrophic disasters. Our long-term vision includes the creation of jobs so that communities become and remain self-sustaining.

Significance of Number 18 in Judaism: The word for “Life” in Hebrew is “Chai.” The two Hebrew letters that make up the word “Chai” are Chet and Yud. The numerical value of Hebrew letters, Chet is equivalent to 8 and Yud is equivalent to 10. So “Chai”, Chet and Yud together, equals 18. Giving money in multiples of $18 is symbolic of giving “Chai” or life. Many people give money in multiples of $18 as presents to someone celebrating a birth, a wedding or a bar or bat mitzvah. Meaning of “2 Life 18”: “Here’s to life!” In other words, “Here’s 2 Life (filled with the lucky number 18!)”

We are coordinating our relief efforts with these leading teams: J/P HRO, 1st and Alton, C.A.R.E and LifeGivingForce that are on the ground in Haiti. We believe that they are making a huge difference in the immediate areas of critical medical care, clean water, food, shelter and air transportation and that they are committed to the long-term rebuilding of Haiti. In addition, we continue to support the many grassroots efforts and other non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are coordinating vital relief programs within Haiti, these include: Artists for Peace and Justice, American Red Cross, Angel Wings International, International Medical Assistance Team, Partners in Health, CARE Haiti, CDTI Hospital, Christ Fellowship Church, Compassion Alliance, Convoy of Hope, Fishers of Men, Enfants Entraide, Free the Children, GLOBAL D.I.R.T., Giving Children Hope, Haiti Clinic, Hope for Haiti, IsraAID, IDF, Les Petits Freres et Petits Soeurs de l’Incarnation, Medishare, Missionary Flights International, Morningstar Christian Academy, Operation Blessing, Project Cure, Reach Out to Haiti, Association Cabral Developpement, Helping Hand Mission Organization and many other local organizations.

We are also continuing to coordinate relief and rescue efforts with the Government of Haiti, The State Department, The US Embassy in Haiti, U. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and key members of Congress and other foreign governments and many multinational companies including The Hain Celestial Group, Nika Water Company, LifeGivingForce and others that continue to support our efforts for the long-term rebuilding of Haiti.

In supporting this effort is Project Medishare, Partners in Health and J/P HRO, we are pooling resources and we will have a cargo plane leaving Monday/Tuesday from Miami if anyone needs some air lift please contact Michael Rettig at mrettig@gotlift.org, he might still have some space to get critical supplies that the MoH and PIH are requesting from us. Anyone with excess drugs, IV’s and cleaning supplies please let us know so we can coordinate a full shipment by air and subsequent shipments by sea.
