Mission: Our mission is simple. We want to put an end to child slavery in Haiti. Unfortunately, the solution is not so straightforward. As a part of a complex web addressing the restavek system in Haiti-our role is to give hope, and even freedom, to those who need it most. The Restavek Foundation provides restavek children opportunities for education, advocates for enslaved children, and raises awareness on a global scale to end modern-day slavery in Haiti.

We educate restavek children. We identify restavek children and work with owners to allow them to release the child to attend school. Through generous child sponsors, we pay for our children's school tuition, provide a school uniform and required books, and give one meal a day. We continually monitor the health and well-being of our sponsored children.

We advocate for restavek children. In May 2009, we hosted our first ever Mwen Se Ayiti Tou (I am Haiti too) conference, the largest gathering of Haitian leaders on the restavek topic, to begin a dialogue about the restavek system and its impact on Haitian society. We now have a network of more than 500 advocates all across Haiti who are beginning to work together to be a voice for the voiceless children in Haiti and restore dignity to these children. We invest in Haiti so that Haiti will allow us to invest in the children. To understand the Restavek situation, you must understand the depth to which it is engrained in the culture and the poverty in which the people of Haiti live. The Restavek Foundation is not a foreign entity just sending money and food. We are an organization built in Haiti, buying supplies from Haiti and using Haitian materials to build facilities and Haitian companies to print books and other media.
