The needs of our clients and the community only grows exponentially with the scale and uncertainty of this hurricane threat. Evacuation costs for our residential clients, response and relief efforts for the community in the aftermath of the storm and our ability to provide aid and assistance to our caregivers who will be on the front lines of providing relief depend on support we receive NOW.
PLEASE GIVE TODAY. Your gift sustains our continued programming throughout Hurricane Isaac and enables us to immediately provide for the increased needs of the community in the aftermath of this storm.
CCANO continues to monitor Hurricane Isaac. For our latest news and updates, follow Twitter @CathCharitiesNO, and the Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans Facebook page.
Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans and the community are bound together in prayer and preparation. Thank you for your support!

Catholic Charities is currently in need of volunteers to help us outreach to families who work in fishing-related industries affected by the oil spill. All volunteers must initially attend an Oil Spill/ Disaster Relief Volunteer Orientation; orientations will take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 2pm on the 10th floor of 1000 Howard Avenue New Orleans, LA 70113.
After volunteers attend an orientation, they will be able to volunteer the next day at a Catholic Charities Community Center in either St. Bernard or New Orleans East.
Volunteers will be taking surveys and helping to distribute food. St. Bernard needs volunteers on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am-2pm; New Orleans East needs volunteers Monday-Friday who are either bilingual or interpreters of Vietnamese. Volunteers must be 18 or older and must have their own transportation. Volunteers must also be willing to travel to locations that are 30-45 minutes away. This is the only oil spill-related volunteer opportunity that we currently have available. If you have any questions or concerns, please, call 504-310-6978 or email volunteer @archdiocese-no.org.

>Terra ~ In order to obtain the goods you must be part of GNODRP or a LTRO working in one of the 9 Parishes served. (www.gnodrp.org)
If your organization would like to join GNODRP, you can contact Chris Brooks @ Christopherb@Unitedwaynola.org to get the needed paperwork. If it is submitted by Friday, you are okay.
Typically the goods are issued to Case Management agencies and the case managers have identified clients with needs in their current case load. In this case, I need to move the goods to make room for other items, so the members of GNODRP that house volunteers may benefit from the water, some groups that work with disaster victims and their children will benefit from the books and so on.
A MOU will be in the paperwork Chris sends you, it explains a little more and we also have a warehouse orientation on the 1st Friday of each month at 1pm. It may be wise to attend one, so your org does not miss oppurtunities that may assist their mission.
As far as a referral, you want to check via link online... 211 provides a wide variety of resources which can be accessed on their website.
I also suggest you talk with Real Estate Agents at Century 21 because they were very helpful to me, when trying to find rentals in affordable ranges for clients when I was a case manager. If they see an outcome from helping you, they will update you weekly on upcoming housing and more.
I think this was too much info but I am long winded sometimes... Sorry Sara

Hi Sara,
Terra here from Citizen Action Team...the online Relief Database people.
Question about the stuff avail at the warehouse (the email below was
forwarded to us from
the FEMA mailing lsit). Someone said that only case managers
associated with the LTRC can get the stuff. Is that true? or any social
services org?
Also, I've had a request to beef up the database with housing referral or
gs
and other
orgs that specialize in helping people find housing. Can you refer me to
a
couple in
your region?
