Michigan Emergency Operations Center remains open as storm cleanup continues in Dundee area
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — The State Emergency Operations Center is overseeing efforts to clean up storm damage after two tornados wreaked havoc in southeast Michigan.
The EOC was activated Sunday to coordinate recovery efforts. It 's being staffed by members of state agencies, private sector representatives, and Fermi 2 Nuclear Power Plant officials.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm received numerous reports Sunday on the damage caused by tornadoes that touched down in Dundee and Rome Center. Spokeswoman Liz Boyd said Monday that the governor is continuing to monitor the situation.
No fatalities were reported from the storms late Saturday and early Sunday, but Dundee is without electrical power and efforts to remove fallen trees and deal with wrecked houses are under way.

Possible tornado in Dundee, Mich.; no deaths; Fermi 2 nuclear plant shut down automatically
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — The National Weather Service is working to confirm a report of a tornado touching down in Dundee, about 25 miles south of Ann Arbor.
Dan Smith, the public information officer for Monroe County, says there were no fatalities and only some minor injuries.
He says the Fermi 2 nuclear plant in Monroe County's Frenchtown Township was shut down automatically after high winds ripped some siding off a building, but there is no danger to the public. He says about 35,000 residents were without power Sunday morning.
Meteorologist Amos Dodson tells AnnArbor.com a possible touchdown was reported at 2:17 a.m. Sunday and a survey team has been sent to the area.
Smith says there was some damage to the Splash Universe water park and other buildings in Dundee.

Tornado causes damage in southeast Michigan
Officials asked people today to avoid driving near Dundee and Fermi 2, because of local road closures and power outages.
