Hope For Little Angels Of Haiti Creche was founded in 2004 by Nadia Bernadin. Nadia has a firm belief that circumstances in Haiti can improve and she and her staff work hard to make a difference in the lives of the 50 children in their care. The Creche provides a stable home for the children living there as well as employment for her staff.
Nadia has been doing French adoptions for the last 3 years and just recently began doing adoptions in the United States. Nadia is fully vested financially, emotionally, and spiritually in this endeavor.
What We Do
Nadia and the Hope for Little Angels of Haiti organization aim to supply the children of the Creche with nutritious meals, preventative medical care, a basic education and a loving, stable home for the time they are with the orphanage.
A full-time nurse is on staff and a local doctor visits monthly to ensure the children are well. The Creche would like to be able to provide basic immunizations for the children in their care, but have not yet been able to fund this activity. It will cost approximately $450 per child for immunizations.
The Creche strives to feed the children three nutritious meals per day but this has become increasingly difficult. The cost of feeding the children just three simple meals of rice and beans with a bit of dried chicken or fish exceeds $3500.00 USD per month.
Many people assume that things should be cheaper in Haiti. However, the reality is that there is little agriculture in the country so a large percentage of the food supply is imported. Shipping costs combined with a limited availability increases food prices significantly. A few examples of the food costs are:
RICE $775
Infant Formula $800
Beans/Corn $650
Cooking Oil $400
Chicken $250
Just recently, the Creche has found sponsors for an on-site teacher for the children. The children will be taught basic reading and writing skills, along with English.
What You Can Do….
Get involved!
100% of all donations are used directly to supply the Creche with food, water, shelter, and medical supplies. But most importantly, your donations give the children and those who work with them HOPE. Hope that these children will be placed with loving, caring families and a Hope that the staff of the Creche can make the long term difference in their community and their nation that they desire.
