This Cholera Treatment Center is operated by the Mennonites at dlo lavie - Water of Life. They are our neighbors and we have been working closely with them. Now, they have outgrown their Cholera Center and it is time for Love A Child, World Vision, Dlo Lavie and one other clinic to come together to build a HUGE CHOLERA TREATMENT CENTER on this spot. The foundation for the new Center will be 35 feet X 110 feet and this new foundation for the HUGE CHOLERA TENT will need to be poured on Tuesday of this week to allow us all to get ready for the deluge of Cholera patients in this area.

We have had a very hard time getting enough staff and supplies to care for the large number of victims. So far, we have examined over 1300 Cholera victims in just three weeks. With such a large number of patients, we are using on average every day the following: 8 IVs per person, 720 packages of re-hydration solution, 5 gallons of Clorox, plus IV needles and tubing.

We are in a terrible crisis and an extreme emergency situation. We desperately need more supplies and we need them quickly.

Post Op Management

This facility is primarily for earthquake related injuries although we are seeing other acute and trauma related cases. We have the capacity for up to 300 patients and run an average census of about 250. We discharge our patients to an IDP camp down the road from the Love a Child facility.
