cat_notes: -> 9/6/12: Email from Peggy to lpar Hey Laura, Peggy Barrios R.N. here sorry I have been in multiple locations with power out, and we have grown so much that covering multiple sites spreads you thin with no time to e-mail. We broke open Direct Relief Packs and have been using them in the mobile medical unit in LaPlace a city hard hit not far from our clinic. They flooded bad and a lot of our employees have lost everything so we have been putting together whatever we can spare to give them clothes, Gift cards to WalMart, cleaning supplies, places for their animals so they can get into motels. I myself had two trees fall on three of my cars that were old, no power for 7 days, heat rash to boot, thought I would make you laugh. Thank you for the Medical supplies I used them yesterday on a man with a wound that needed cleaning and dressing, a nail puncture wound, various cuts and scrapes from people trying to remove debris, a lady with eye problems and wanted help to put her drops in because she was so dirty and had no water. Sometimes the simplest deeds make a big difference. Yes? The majority of our patients are B/p patients wanting to be checked and get refills for meds, Tetanus shots, and rashes from the heat, dirty water, cleaning out houses etc. I could go on but I am sure you are familiar post hurricane tasks. Thank you again for all you do. It put a smile on my face to see the TIDE Washing Machine and Dryer Service Truck pull up and the portable Charmin Toilet, shower and sink modules set up next to us they were air conditioned and nice I sent a lot of patients there. I told fellow workers they were Peggy approved and we could use them too. Insulin and Tetanus (TDAP) were on our list of needs I think some of the Tetanus was being donated but hadn’t arrived as of today. At least 4 of our providers 1 doctor and 3 nurse practitioners lost everything so we are staffed by the bear bones. 20 employees were greatly affected. But we all survived. So say a prayer for us and keep in touch. FYI Our St Bernard clinic was hard hit a lot of patients heavily flooded and we could have used a second hurricane set up for them for the future this is their 2nd flooding. Keep in Touch, Peggy
