The D'Iberville Free Clinic was started right after Hurricane Katrina. It was first located in a large tent in the parking lot of an abandoned grocery store. After 2-3 weeks it was moved under the overhang of the grocery store - with blue tarps for outside walls. There was no running water and the electricity was furnished by generators. The Clinic remained there for almost 10 months.
The Church group in North Carolina came to the Coast on a mission trip and saw our need. They returned home and raised the money to purchased a double-wide modular home to house the Clinic. The Clinic opened in its new refurbished surroundings on July 5th 2006.
