Hopital Sainte Croix of Leogane, Haiti , a 120 bed general hospital, is the base of operations for the regional health care program serving the Commune of Leogane in the Department de l'Quest, Republique d'Haiti. The hospital is owned by the Episcopal Church of Haiti (EEH, Eglise Episcopale d'Haiti.), and is operated in partnership with the Presbyterian Church (USA).
The population in Leogane and the surrounding region prior to the Jan. 12 quake was about 200,000. However, relief organizations and the United Nations have estimated the death toll just in this area could be between 20,000 and 30,000. Food and supplies have taken longer to reach Leogane because the main roads were wiped out, a factor Maj. Brizay added may delay their move into the city.
"They don't have anything standing," he explained. "Even if they have the doctors or nurses the hospitals are flattened."

On September 22, 2010, Hopital Sainte Croix officially reopened for patients for the first time since it was destroyed in the January earthquake. Bishop Jean Zache Duracin came to Leogane and presided over a worship and celebration service and blessed the hospital. It is operating in the one story medicine wing of the old hospital. There are about 30 beds and two small operating rooms. On the evening of the 23rd, there were two patients, a pediatric patient and one adult. Rejoice with us! There are doctors and nurses around the clock, sheets on the beds, and functioning bathrooms! Down the hall, in the old operating room/central supply area, the Children Nutrition Program is providing in-patient and out-patient renourishment programs. In the old day clinic area, the out patient clinic is seeing over 150 patients every day. The lab and the xray departments are busy. The place finally looks and works like a hospital again.
