As we are getting ready to send supplies to the earthquake victims, we wanted to post some items that are desperately needed that you could send to our office or send funds to buy.
NO GIFT IS TOO SMALL.
Large and small tarps, tents of any size. There are mostly large families, but any size tent is needed. T-shirts of all sizes, blankets, and sheets. Toiletries, soap, toothpaste, deodorant, washcloths, towels. I don’t know if anyone has access to MRE’s (meals ready to eat), but this would be great.
Diapers of any size, powdered milk. (We will buy water wherever we can en route.) Baby cereal, etc.
This disaster won’t go away overnight, but the need is great now.

The earthquake that rumbled through Haiti on January 12th at 4:58 PM left death and destruction everywhere. Hundreds of thousands of people are living in "tent cities" or on the streets. We have 360 families living in a tent city called Camp Hope on Love A Child land. The Lord laid upon our hearts the vision of getting these families in permanent shelter right on the Love A Child land.
After months of planning and researching, we have come up with a nice little wooden house to build for the earthquake families left homeless and living in Camp Hope.
We thank Joyce Meyer Ministries - Hand of Hope for $150,000.00 to build the first fifty houses, Phase One. After Phase One is complete, we are believing God that we will have the funds for the houses and infrastructure for Phase Two.
Anyone wanting to come on a construction team to build housing for the earthquake victims should complete a Building Team Application. The cost of the trip is $20 a day, payable to Love A Child, which covers transportation in Haiti and three meals a day. You may need to pay for a motel room to stay overnight in Miami so you can take the same flight as the rest of team to Port au Prince. Each team member is responsible for his or her own round trip airfare. If you have any questions or need additional assistance, please contact Jesse Ostrander at LACbuildingteams @aol.com. We need you!
We want to thank you for thinking about becoming a part of a Love A Child construction team! Building houses for the poor and displaced earthquake victims in Haiti is a crucial step toward getting these people back on their feet. The fact that you are considering a trip to Haiti to build permanent homes for these people shows that you have compassion for the poor!

6:00 PM, Saturday evening...There are many different groups of people being fed at the same time. There are over 100 here in our orphanage. We are also feeding our Jesus Healing Center Staff, all the visitors and all the wounded. We are feeding approx. 1,000 in this immediate area, in addition to all those who come to get food to distribute in Disaster Areas...
We were told yesterday that we can expect 6,000 wounded to be coming in...
The D.R. has asked permission to set up a "refugee camp" (tent city), on our second piece of LAC land, adjoining our main property. We have heard that their plans are to have four major camps with 100,000 people in each one...and ours will be "one of those four." We hope that the D.R. sends in Security ASAP! Sherry
PS We want to thank the U.S.A. for their support of these poor Haitian people, as well as the Dominican Republic and all those who have helped, large or small. It is wonderful to see people helping people of all nationalities...all races... A Creole Proverb: "Anpil men, chay pa lou." "With a lot of hands, the load is not heavy."

Tuesday afternoon...
We had a very long and wonderful meeting with a group of dignitaries from the Dominican Republic. We thought that it was the U.N. that wanted to come in with groups of doctors from all over the world and set up a huge clinic, but actually, it was the Dominican Republic who is heading this up, in cooperation with the Haitian Government.
Helicopters have been coming in and out all day long with the top people from the Dominican Republic and landing right here on our property in Fond Parisien.
General Pedro Pena Antonio, Chief of Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic, is working with Dr. Douglas Bournigal, from the D.R., to carry out this plan to help the Haitian people through Love A Child, under the direct authority of the President of the Dominican Republic. There are too many wonderful things about to happen to bless the Haitian people and we will be sharing these things as we go along. It's bigger than you will ever know!
The great thing about this is that when the Dominican Republic sends in this "Surgical Hospital" and doctors from all over the world, to treat the earthquake victims, then this will take this big pressure off the shoulders of our small staff here. We can then return to working in our Jesus Healing Center to meet the needs of the community here in Fond Parisien, as we had been, before the earthquake.
We are so thankful for Joyce Meyer Ministries - Hand of Hope for sponsoring this Clinic 100%, which has already saved many lives.
In addition to our being able to go back to operating our Jesus Healing Center for the Community again, we will have the best doctors in the world, coming right here to Fond Parisien to help these poor people! This disaster has really opened Haiti's plight to the eyes of the entire world! To God be the Glory!
Our deepest thanks to the generosity and compassionate care from the Dominican Republic to the suffering people of Haiti.
Here is a photo of Bobby and me with General Pedros Pena Antonio, Chief of Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic.
Thank you, partners, each and everyone of you, for your sacrifices, your prayers and your support for Love A Child in helping these poor, poor people in their time of greatest need.

UPDATE ON EARTHQUAKE OPERATIONS:
http://www.loveachild.com/blogs/journal/january-19-2010---5-pm---latest-news-update.html
God Bless You,
Sherry

Who should I talk to if I have any questions or concerns?

Latest News:
02-02-10 - 8:30 PM - School will be starting here in Haiti next month. We have just a few weeks to figure out how to house our "600 school children" here in Fond Parisien. We gave up our three LAC School Classrooms and our Church building for medical victims of the Earthquake. Now, we are needing a large building that will serve as both a School for 600 children and a Church on Sundays. If we clear our land and put up a tent, the dust will be a horrible problem. Something must happen, soon...
On another note, we were blessed to have a tent donated to us, to be used for our "Mother's Malnutrition Program," to prevent severe malnutrition in babies. There are so many mothers coming with malnourished babies that we had to use our Church building. This wonderful tent that was donated to us by the Richard W. Hotes Foundation, will serve this purpose, and also, the tent will be used for our vaccination program for the children in the community. Now, all we have to do is find something large enough to be used as our School!

Tuesday - Sherry and I rose this morning at 4:00 AM to start the day. We wanted to spend some extra time in prayer before the Lord. It's so easy to become so busy that we do not take time before Him to receive His strength and guidance. Pray for Sherry...We believe she has a detached retina in one eye. She must leave tomorrow to travel to St. Luke's to be examined. She will come right back next week. Her body is past being worn out. She was very tired before all of this happened. I will be staying here...Bobby

The D.R. has asked permission to set up a "refugee camp" (tent city), on our second piece of LAC land, adjoining our main property.

UPDATE ON EARTHQUAKE OPERATIONS:
http://www.loveachild.com/blogs/journal/january-19-2010---5-pm---latest-news-update.html
God Bless You,
Sherry

Who should I talk to if I have any questions or concerns?
Team members or applicants can call, write, or email Jesse Ostrander, Love A Child’s construction team coordinator at anytime.

Thank you, partners, each and everyone of you, for your sacrifices, your prayers and your support for Love A Child in helping these poor, poor people in their time of greatest need.
God Bless You,
Sherry

We had a very long and wonderful meeting with a group of dignitaries from the Dominican Republic.
