8/31/12, am: Sorry we were not able to post updates as expected during the storm. We have resolved those problems and are again able to provide regular updates throughout the early recovery. We were however able to provide regular posts on the United Houma Nation's Facebook page and you can access that information at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/United-Houma-Nation/190278573408
KUHN faired very well during Isaac and shows no signs of obvious damage. As soon as electrical service returns to the Golden Meadow area, the tower will be raised again and live broadcasting and streaming will resume. We will notify you here when services resume as this will be the fastest way to communicate with tribal citizens about relief services as they become available. Unfortunately the UHN Tribal Office in Golden Meadow did not fair as well and has extensive roof damage on the south-side of the building. There are currently no electrical services to that office and it will be closed until further notice. At this point, please contact the Houma Office for all your needs. That number is (985)223-3093.
We are talking with several organizations regarding relief services. We will notify you of any services that become available as soon as we have confirmed information. Thanks for your patience while we work on securing services for you during this disaster.
We know we have many families in Plaquemines, Lafitte and Grand Isle that are currently displaced from Isaac. Please contact our office in Houma (985)223-3093 to notify us of your needs as well as report contact information.
Also for all citizens with disaster needs, please email info @ unitedhoumanation.org so that we can begin a registry of affected citizens. Please include your name, tribal roll number if possible, address, contact information including telephone number and the extent of your hurricane damage as much as possible. Thanks everyone this will be essential in helping us connect the appropriate relief services with the right people.

of the United Houma Nation. Through these pages you may journey
with us to the bayou country of south Louisiana, the homeland
of the Houma people. While you are here you’ll learn something
of our history, our culture and our traditions.
The United Houma Nation (UHN) is a state recognized tribe of
approximately 17,000 tribal citizens residing within a
six-parish (county) service area encompassing 4,570 square
miles. The six parishes, Terrebonne, Lafourche, Jefferson,
St. Mary, St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes are located
along the southeastern coast of Louisiana. Within this area,
distinct tribal communities are situated among the interwoven
bayous and canals where Houmas traditionally earned a living.
Although by land and road these communities are distant,
they were historically very close by water. However, boat
travel is no longer a viable option due to the effects of
coastal erosion, which has left these waterways either
nonexistent or impassable and often treacherous.
The Houma Tribe has not yet been Federally recognized,
awaiting a response for over 20 years from the Bureau of
Indian Affairs, an agency of the U.S. Department of the
Interior. This is our story. -> Halito & Bonjour, Hello and welcome to the official website of the United Houma Nation. UPDATE - HURRICANE ISAAC RELIEF SERVICES
Thanks everyone this will be essential in helping us connect the appropriate relief services with the right people.

mission: Halito & Bonjour, Hello and welcome to the official website of the United Houma Nation. Through these pages you may journey with us to the bayou country of south Louisiana, the homeland of the Houma people. While you are here you’ll learn something of our history, our culture and our traditions.
The United Houma Nation (UHN) is a state recognized tribe of approximately 17,000 tribal citizens residing within a six-parish (county) service area encompassing 4,570 square miles. The six parishes, Terrebonne, Lafourche, Jefferson, St. Mary, St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes are located along the southeastern coast of Louisiana. Within this area, distinct tribal communities are situated among the interwoven bayous and canals where Houmas traditionally earned a living. Although by land and road these communities are distant, they were historically very close by water. However, boat travel is no longer a viable option due to the effects of coastal erosion, which has left these waterways either nonexistent or impassable and often treacherous.
The Houma Tribe has not yet been Federally recognized, awaiting a response for over 20 years from the Bureau of Indian Affairs, an agency of the U.S. Department of the Interior. This is our story. -> Halito & Bonjour, Hello and welcome to the official website

Halito & Bonjour, Hello and welcome to the official website of the United Houma Nation.
-> Halito & Bonjour, Hello and welcome to the official website of the United Houma Nation.
