West Georgia SPCA (Animal Services)
Organization: Animal Rescue/Advocacy
Facility Type: Animal Shelter
Status: Open
Address:
Winston, GA 30187
Main/General Business Number: 770-272-3178, Cell: (678) 457-7852
Website: http://www.westgeorgiaspca.org/
Mission: The West Georgia SPCA started out as a group of volunteers at the Douglas County Animal Control Shelter in 2004 and we later became an independent non-profit corporation in April 2006 so we could continue to grow and meet the needs of the shelter and the community. We help homeless dogs, cat and rabbits get a second chance for a wonderful new life.
We have a great relationship with the Douglas County Animal Control Shelter's staff and together we strive to create new programs to bring people and pets together. Over the last few years our volunteers and the county shelter staff have worked together to make great improvements which have drastically raised the adoption rate and lowered the euthanasia rate in Douglas County.
By working together, the Douglas County Animal Control Shelter is now dramatically improved since the County took over shelter management in 2003. There is always room for improvement, though... Douglas County needs a modern, new animal shelter!

FROM THE WEBSITE 10/5/09:
Some pets came to FEMA on their own searching for help after the Georgia floods.
A big thank you to Farnam Pet Products for donating a generous supply of Just Born Puppy and Kitten Milk Replacer. It means a lot to have the support of a wonderful company like Farnam!
We have received some emergency funding from PetFinder.com to assist with displaced animals from the flooding. If you need assistance with boarding your pets while you get your house back to a safe condition or while you find a new residence, we can help. Please call us at (770)272-3178 to request assistance.
