Network set up to help those with unmet needs

In response to the recent flooding throughout the state of North Dakota, the North Dakota Long-Term Recovery Committee and local Unmet Needs Committees are preparing to assist individuals and families hardest hit by the spring 2009 flooding.

These groups, made up of local voluntary and faith-based agencies work, through a disaster case management process (RAFT – Resource Agencies Flood Team), to help individuals and families with their "long-term and/or unmet needs" after other forms of assistance have been exhausted- ie. personal resources, insurance, FEMA and/or SBA assistance, and local, state or other government and non-government resources.

To receive a case management application for unmet needs, contact your local, Red Cross, Salvation Army or United Way or call a representative of the North Dakota Long-Term Recovery Committee at Lutheran Disaster Response 1-800-366-9841.

Lutheran Disaster Response is also coordinating volunteers who would like to help with clean-up, muck-outs and rebuilding efforts. If you or your “team” would like to assist please call Lutheran Disaster Response at 1-800-366-9841.
