Hello. ACORN is the Association of Community Organizations for
Reform Now. We are a social justice group that is based in New
Orleans, La. and has blossomed into an international
organization. We are looking for volunteers to work with our
Home Clean Out and Yard Maintenance Programs. Home Clean Out
Volunteers will gut houses that were damaged during Hurricane
Katrina in 2006 (this is for volunteers over the age of 18
only). Yard Maintenance Volunteers (no age requirement) will
be working outside cutting grass, cleaning entire blocks in
the lower ninth ward, cutting shrubs, and periodically painting
playgrounds. Both programs are accepting volunteers through
the summer and fall. We are also in need of a steady office
volunteer for the remainder of the summer(someone who could
work three or four days a week from 9-3). Please e-mail if
interested and thank you so much.
