Mission: A brief history of the organization:
Beautify the Meek is a non-profit/faith based organization that resuscitates and revitalizes people by empowering and enriching lives through a multitude of holistic training, charitable assistance, partnerships, beautification, educational and image training. Beautify the Meek provides dressy-casual to business attire, skin-care classes, beautification/image consulting and products for disadvantaged and under-served women who are transitioning from job-training to job preparation , battered women shelters, women-to-women mentorship, mother-and-daughter mentorship and strength building, and those who have suffered life-crisis and seeking to get in the job market.
Beautify the Meek has begun servicing and building relationships with organizations such as: S=Domestic Violence Center Shelters and Transitional Homes, Senior Centers and a few other facilities and organizations.
Beautify the Meek has been one of the organizations that have assisted battered women and children’s shelters in post- Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts. As you may know, the Mississippi Gulf Coast was hit tremendously by the worst Natural Disaster to touch the United States soil, Hurricane Katrina. Long after the media cameras have gone away and the national coverage has ceased, the rebuilding process of the after-math of Hurricane Katrina is still a very real and prevalent task. Our local domestic violence shelters here in Jackson County both pre and post -Katrina have been struggling to stay above water. Pre Katrina they were in a very small home and on a very tight budget. One of the shelters, post Katrina had lost their shelter and are in the process of finally getting into a new and bigger facility. Other organizations Beautify the Meek have serviced, are on even a tighter budget. They all consistently lack funding for "extra" things. One of the shelters said even something as simple as “ice cream” is a treat so they are starving for Image Consulting services that are needed and to help women and teens prepare for jobs, effective communication, and various skills to assist their new transformation. Our efforts ar e to assist them in services ranging in: helping them to find and symbolize pride, self esteem, a sense of hope and letting them know that we in the community do care. Many of these women feel shunned for decisions they've made and do not feel they are a part of society. Often times they lack the courage and confidence to go out for jobs and their body language, communication skills, image, and esteem reflect their personal struggle and abuse. We help them become definers of themselves through holistic training and not their abuse defining them. Rarely do they ever feel pampered and special. I, Katrina Currie, through Beautify the Meek would like to change that through Image Consulting services. We are doing this perpetually.
