With the dedicated assistance of the ODR team, we will help these good people come back. This weekend we will send down gift cards for Lowe's and Walmart. ODR will probably need volunteers to assist with gutting work in their church and rectory as well as the homes of parishioners. I am still in the process of compiling a list of other needs, but so far they will need new Prayer Books and Hymnals, possibly new pews, and new appliances.
Please call me if you can lend a hand in some way and I will be glad to coordinate. This is a proud and wonderful group of people who are a mainstay of their community.
Many thanks.

Before Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Chapel House was a single family dwelling rented out to college students by Chapel of the Holy Spirit. Now, thanks to the generosity of individuals and churches, Chapel House is functioning strictly as a volunteer housing base.Space available to volunteers includes sleeping space for 20 beds, a kitchen and three functioning showers, two toilets and three vanities. There is a common area with a dining table.
Army beds with foam mattresses are provided for each resident. When staying in this house, individuals will need to bring sleeping bag/bedding, pillow and pillow case and personal items.
As in all of our volunteer housing spaces, volunteers are responsible for their own meals and transportation. When teams are scheduled into Chapel House, they will be provided with more detailed information on the house as well as a variety of resources (grocery, laundry, restaurants, etc.) are nearby, most within walking distance.

Post-Ike Report from Bayou DuLarge
by The Rev'd Canon Scott Albergate
Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ:
I was finally able to make it down to Bayou du Large yesterday where I was met by about a dozen parishioners of St. Andrew's. Their spirits are high and unbroken despite water and wind damage to their church, parish hall and rectory. Many also experienced flooding to their homes and do not yet have power. This is a familiar experience for them, though their senior warden Allen Marcel said they had eight more inches of water this time than Rita.
With the dedicated assistance of the ODR team, we will help these good people come back. This weekend we will send down gift cards for Lowe's and Walmart. ODR will probably need volunteers to assist with gutting work in their church and rectory as well as the homes of parishioners.
