notes: From their website: Dear Friend, Amidst this week's wildfire tragedy throughout our community, you have allowed San Diego Rescue Mission to immediately help thousands of evacuees and victims. Thank you for letting us be able to serve these men, women, and children! Here are some of the ways you have allowed us to aid in the relief efforts: During the first two days of evacuations, we brought over truckloads of water, beverages, utensils, condiments, bowls, breads, and desserts for evacuees at Qualcomm Stadium until officials said they had enough We've been cooking and delivering an extra 500-1000 meals a day to these victims/evacuees at Qualcomm We have Men's Center clients working overtime in the kitchen and on the trucks to prepare and deliver all this extra food We are housing grief counselors that have come in from out of state and had nowhere else to stay We have opened up our showers to evacuees staying at local churches Our emergency shelter for women and children is staying open during the day so that our desperate moms, ladies, and children (some with asthma) do not have to stay outside and be exposed to the dangerous air quality We are working directly with Homeland security and America's Second Harvest in acquiring and distributing thousands of pounds of food to victims as part of our Partners for Hunger Relief Program Herb Johnson, President/CEO PS - In the middle of our wonderful outreach to the fire victims, our normal day to day operations of helping 330+ homeless, abused, addicted and poor men, women, and children continue. Our resources are being spread thin. Please continue to support us so that we can continue to serve everyone in need - those within our walls and the thousands more affected by these fires! ->
