In 2006 we served 25,219 people; 9538 families 378,285 meals 476,042 pounds of food. Volunteers donated 11208 hours. Our Mission: "The Interfaith Food Bank distributes food to hungry people as an important step in restoring human dignity and potential." Interfaith Council of Amador is a charitable non-profit corporation founded in 1996 by local churches and social service organizations. The primary purpose of this council is to operate The Interfaith Food Bank. Our Mission is to distribute food to hungry people as an important step in restoring human dignity and potential. The Interfaith Food Bank collects commodites in an effort to combat hunger in Amador County. We accept donations of food from individuals as well as all the grocery stores in Amador County. Our thanks to: Claypools Market, Payless, Pokerville Market, Raleys and Safeway. Almost 500,000 pounds of food gleaned annually is distributed to more than 900 families each month. We serve people from all walks of life. People in need include children, the elderly, the disabled, veterans, the homeless, working poor, and individuals experiencing temporary medical emergencies or recent job layoffs.
